A scientific exhibition with over 200 varieties beautifully displayed by expert gardeners, to highlight a plant that represents a true wealth of botanical heritage found in both private and public gardens in the Locarno region.

The Camellia Park, which became a member of the “Gardens of Switzerland” association in 2014, will be open as usual to visitors.

The 13th edition of the Monte Verità Literary Events will be held from 10 to 13 April 2025 in Ascona and Locarno, under the artistic direction of Stefan Zweifel, journalist, editor and translator. He will be joined by Maike Albath, journalist and literary critic, and Stefano Knuchel, director.

You are all welcome to experience the happy atmosphere on a  track of approximately 50 km, which runs between Bellinzona (Piazza Governo) and Locarno (Piazza Grande): a wonderful itinerary that connects the Lake Maggiore region, following along the Piano di Magadino, to the castles of Bellinzona.

Along the way there are also various entertainment points, food stalls and other parallel activities. The pace and distance can be chosen freely, and you can enter and exit the course at any point.

Many renowned Italian actors have performed on this stage, earning it the well-deserved slogan “Theatre like in Milan.” The venue has 500 seats, and thanks to its outstanding lineup, sold-out evenings are common. Loyal subscribers number around 800.

Perched on a stunning rocky outcrop, the Madonna del Sasso Sanctuary overlooks Locarno and offers breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore and the Maggia Delta. This peaceful and spiritual site is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the Canton of Ticino.

Founded in 1487 following a Marian apparition, the complex includes the basilica, convent, Via Crucis, and several chapels, some of which have unfortunately been lost. The richly decorated church houses valuable frescoes, votive paintings, and religious artworks.

The sanctuary can be reached on foot from Locarno’s Old Town via historic pilgrimage paths or comfortably by the Locarno-Orselina funicular, which departs near the railway station.
